Valentine’s Day is almost here! One of the most popular desserts this time of year is chocolate-covered strawberries. To elevate your Valentine’s Day, we’ve put an exciting twist on this holiday classic: THC Infused Chocolate-Covered Strawberries!

This combination brings two aphrodisiacs, hemp and chocolate, and makes it a perfect addition to any Valentine’s Day date or anniversary.

Or they are a perfect treat to enjoy by yourself. Remember to give yourself some love this Valentine’s Day!

Different Methods

We have two methods for this recipe. Each will get you the same result. Method #1 involved plain chocolate chips and infused butter/oil. We have included recipes on how to make your own Cannabutter and infused oil below. Method #2 involved our Leafy8 Chocolate Treats and plain chocolate chips. When following the recipe, make sure to follow the steps of your chosen method.

Cannabutter Recipe

Cannabutter is very easy to make. All you need are two items: 1 stick of unsalted butter and a 1-gram distillate syringe from Leafy8. We carry Delta-8 THC distillate syringes.

First, we will melt the butter. You can either use the microwave method or the stovetop method. While melting, it is crucial to keep the butter under 200 degrees to avoid THC degradation.

Once the butter is melted, it is time to add the distillate. Distillate is a dense, honey-like substance. To loosen it, place the syringe in a cup of hot water or gently warm it up using a torch or other heating device.

With a whisk or spatula, mix ingredients until the distillate is evenly incorporated throughout.

There are 1000mg in each Leafy8 syringe. This amount will be divided by how many servings you make of these items. If you want a lower dose, replace half the cannabutter in the recipe with regular butter.

Infused Oil Recipe

For those who prefer to use infused oil, worry not! We’ve got you covered.

Heat the distillate in a cup of hot water or, with direct heat. Then combine it with your oil of choice (we suggest coconut oil). Mix thoroughly.

We suggest calculating the milligrams per serving based on the amount of oil in the recipe. Our recipe calls for two tablespoons, so we highly suggest only using a quarter to a half of the syringe. If you were to make 12 strawberries and use half the syringe, the strawberries would be approximately 42 mg per serving. Markings on our syringes will show you how much was used. Use these to do the dosage calculations.

Microwave or Stove?

We used a stove top to melt the chocolate, but many will say a microwave works just fine. That is true. A microwave can melt chocolate. However, high heat can cause THC degradation, making the edibles less potent. An alternative is to melt the plain chocolate in the microwave and, then add the infused butter/oil afterward. For Method #2, we do not suggest using the microwave, as the THC in our Chocolate Treats can degrade when exposed to high heat.

Important Notes Before Cooking:

Wait at Least 1 Hour After Consumption

Edibles take between 30 minutes to 2 hours to take effect. Only take another serving after you feel the full effects and want a stronger experience. It’s a common mistake to redose too soon, potentially leading to an undesirable outcome. You can always take more, but you can’t take less. So Start Low and Go Slow.

Cannabis & Hemp-Derived Products Affect Everyone Differently

Cannabis and hemp-derived products affect each person differently based on several factors such as tolerance, age, and more. Do individualized research to better personalize your experience and ensure you have a positive reaction.

Keep infused goods out of reach of children and pets. Only adults 21 years or older should make this recipe and/or consume it. Please inform anyone who consumes them of the ingredients and potential side effects.

Method #1 Ingredients:

(Approximately 42mg per serving – Serving Size: 1 Strawberry)

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (dark, milk, or white chocolate)
  • 2 tablespoons of infused oil or butter (0.5 g of distillate)
  • 1 lb of strawberries
  • (Optional): Decorations such as sprinkles, crushed nuts, etc

Method #2 Ingredients:

(Approximately 42mg per serving – Serving Size: 1 Strawberry)

Equipment:

  • Double-boiler OR a saucepan and a heat-safe glass bowl
  • Spatula
  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Stovetop

Let’s Get Cookin’!

  • Clean all the strawberries with water and place them on a dry surface. Use a clean paper towel to pat them dry. Set them to the side and allow them to completely dry.
  • While they dry, prep your baking sheet with the parchment paper. Set them aside.
  • Fill your saucepan with water until it is halfway full. Place the glass bowl on top of the saucepan. Put on medium-low heat and bring to a low boil.
  • Once simmering, add your chocolate chips to the glass bowl.
    • If you’re using Method #2: Add the 10 unwrapped Chocolate Treats as well.
  • Stir occasionally until the chocolate is melted. This process should take around 5 minutes.
    • If you are using Method #2: Closely monitor the heat. Since you are using infused chocolate, overheating the chocolate can result in THC degradation.
  • For Method #1: Once melted, stir in the infused oil/butter.
  • Once incorporated, remove from heat.
  • Dip the strawberries into the chocolate. Allow the excess chocolate to run off before setting them on the baking sheet. If you add extras such as crushed nuts, sprinkles, etc, apply them after placing them on the sheet.
  • Repeat until all strawberries are covered.
  • Place in the fridge for approximately 30 minutes. If you have leftover chocolate, you can pour it into parchment paper and remelt it for later use. We used our leftover chocolate to drizzle lines onto the strawberries.
  • Once hardened, you can apply drizzle over top of the strawberries.
  • Now they are ready to enjoy either as a treat or for a romantic date!

How to Store Chocolate Covered Strawberries:

Store your finished strawberries in a sealed Tupperware container in the fridge. These chocolate-covered strawberries should be consumed within two days for the best quality. They can also be wrapped in foil, in a freezer bag, then put into the freezer to keep them longer.
