National Donut Day is on June 7th! Are you looking to put a fun, plant-based spin on this classic recipe? Well, we’ve got just the recipe for you! In this article, we’re making THC-Infused Donuts with Chocolate Icing! We’ll explain how to make cannabutter using our easy-to-use Leafy8 Distillate Syringes and how to dose your donuts accordingly.
So, grab your apron, roll up your sleeves, and let’s get baking! It’s time to elevate your breakfast with these THC-Infused Donuts!
Important Notes Before Cooking:
Wait at Least 1 Hour After Consumption
Edibles take between 30 minutes to 2 hours to take effect. Only take another serving after you feel the full effects and are looking for a more powerful experience. It’s a common mistake to redose too soon, potentially leading to an undesirable outcome. You can always take more, but you can’t take less. So Start Low and Go Slow.
Cannabis & Hemp-Derived Products Affect Everyone Differently
Cannabis and hemp-derived products affect each person differently based on several factors such as tolerance, age, and more. Do individualized research to better personalize your experience and ensure you have a positive reaction.
Enjoy Responsibly
Keep infused baked goods out of reach of children and pets. Only adults 21 years or older should make this recipe or consume these treats. Please inform anyone who consumes them of the ingredients and potential side effects.
Dosage On THC-Infused Donuts
This recipe makes 12 servings, and if you follow our cannabutter recipe, each donut will be approximately 20mg per donut. However, the dosage is very customizable in edibles. We detail how to determine the dosage in our cannabutter recipe below.
Cannabutter Recipe
Before baking, we must prepare the most important ingredient, Cannabutter. Cannabutter is very easy to make. You’ll need two items, 1/2 stick of unsalted butter and a 1-gram distillate syringe from Leafy8. We carry Delta-8 THC distillate syringes.
First, we will melt the butter. You can either use the microwave method or the stovetop method. While melting, it is crucial to keep the butter under 200 degrees to avoid THC degradation.
Once the butter is melted, it is time to add the distillate. Distillate is a dense, honey-like substance. Place the syringe in a cup of hot water or gently warm it up using a torch or other heating device to loosen it.
Mix ingredients with a whisk or spatula until the distillate is evenly incorporated. Now your cannabutter is done!
For our recipe, you will only be using 1 tbsp of cannabutter, which is approximately 250 mg. Since the recipe makes 12 servings, each donut will be 20mg. For those looking for a higher dose, replace the regular butter with more cannabutter. With 2 tbsp of cannabutter, each donut will be approximately 42mg.
Donut Recipe
12 Servings / Approximately 20mg Per Donut
For The Donuts:
2 Cups Flour
1/4 Tsp Salt
2 Tsp Baking Powder
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
1/2 Cup Milk
1 Egg
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 tbsp cannabutter
1 tbsp unsalted butter
Oil For Frying
For Chocolate Glaze:
1 1/2 Cups Confectioners Sugar
4 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
2 Tbsp Milk
2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
Optional Sprinkles
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine egg, powdered sugar, milk, butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour all wet ingredients into the dry mixture and mix until well incorporated. It should be a soft dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a tbsp of flour. If the dough is too dry add a tbsp of milk.
- Roll out dough on a board. Cut out your donuts with a cup and a smaller cup or two circle cookie cutters. Take scraps and knead them together and repeat this step until there is little to no dough left.
- Heat oil in a pot for deep frying. Once bubbling, drop in 1-2 donuts at a time and fry until golden on both sides.
- Using tongs, remove donuts from the pot and put on a plate. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 until all donuts are done.
- While the donuts cool, make your glaze. Combine all ingredients in a bowl until it is a semi-thick consistency. Once cool, dip each donut in. Allow to drip for a few seconds before placing on a cooling rack to harden.
- Optional: While the glaze is still wet, apply any sprinkles of your choice!
- Once hard, enjoy your tasty treat!
Storing Tips
Since these baked goods contain eggs, they should be stored in an air-tight container in the fridge. The donuts can be stored for up to seven days.
If a week isn’t enough time to enjoy these donuts, they can be frozen. Many worry about the THC degrading, but the THC content will stay the same for up to 15 months. First, the donuts must be wrapped in storage or cling wrap, then in aluminum foil. They can last up to 4 months while frozen. To thaw, place them in the fridge overnight.
