THC-A (tetrahydrocannabinol) is a major cannabinoid found in cannabis and hemp plants. Unlike other cannabinoids, this substance doesn’t produce a psychoactive effect when ingested.
Rather, as it is heated, it goes through decarboxylation. Decarboxylation or “decarbing” converts the THC-A to Delta 9 THC, which produces the effects commonly associated with cannabis.
