Navigating the 2025 Hemp Laws: What’s Changing for THCA and How Leafy8 Is Moving Forward

At Leafy8, we’ve proudly served Florida’s hemp community since 2021 with a simple mission: to provide safe, high-quality, and innovative hemp-derived products—no medical card required. As one of Florida’s industry leaders, we’ve built our reputation on transparency, science, and a passion for cannabis innovation.

But as the hemp landscape evolves in 2025, it’s time to talk about some major legal updates—and what they mean for THCA and our product lineup moving forward.

What Changed in 2025? Understanding the Total THC Rule

This year, federal and state regulators updated how hemp products are tested and classified, focusing more on what’s called the “Total THC” standard. This method takes into account not just the Delta 9 THC content in raw form, but also the amount of THCA—the non-psychoactive cannabinoid that converts into Delta 9 THC when heated.

Why We Can’t Sell THCA Anymore

Under the Total THC calculation, if a product’s THCA content plus its Delta 9 THC content exceeds the legal 0.3% limit (on a dry weight basis), it’s no longer considered compliant hemp—it’s considered marijuana under the law.

Unfortunately, most THCA flower and concentrates exceed that threshold when tested using this new method. As a result, we’ve had to remove THCA from our lineup to remain compliant with Florida and federal hemp laws. While this is a big change, it’s one we’re navigating with the same innovation and integrity that’s always defined Leafy8.

Hemp Is Evolving — And So Are We

Though THCA is no longer on our shelves, we’re doubling down on what we can do: create legal, lab-tested, and high-quality hemp products featuring powerful cannabinoids like:

  • Delta 9 THC (compliant and derived from hemp)

  • Delta 8 THC

  • HHC (Hexahydrocannabinol)

These cannabinoids offer a range of effects—from relaxing to euphoric—and remain fully legal under the 2018 Farm Bill when derived from hemp and under 0.3% Delta 9 THC by dry weight.

We continue to innovate with Flower, Edibles, Vapes, Concentrates, Tinctures, Topicals and more, developing consumption methods that deliver potent, consistent results—

Why Leafy8 Remains a Florida Hemp Leader

Since our launch in 2021, Leafy8 has built its foundation on trust, quality, and in-house innovation. While many brands outsource production, we keep everything in-house—from plant formulation, product engineering, to packaging—to maintain consistency, potency, and full control over the supply chain.

Every product we make is third-party lab tested, Usually by Florida’s trusted labs like ACS, ensuring transparency and compliance with the strictest standards. That’s how we’ve earned our spot as one of Florida’s leading hemp dispensaries—and how we plan to stay there.

We know the hemp industry is always changing, but one thing stays the same: our commitment to putting safe, effective, and accessible cannabis products in your hands, without the need for a medical card.

What’s Next for Leafy8?

Even without THCA, we’re not slowing down. In fact, we’re ramping up R&D and preparing to launch new products and delivery methods to meet the needs of customers across the wellness, recreational, and alternative medicine spaces.
