What is HHC?
HHC stands for hydroxyhexahydrocannabinol. It occurs naturally in hemp and marijuana plants in small concentrations. However, due to this small concentration, HHC is manufactured in a laboratory setting by subjecting concentrated THC to high pressure, hydrogen, and a catalyst such as palladium.
By saturating the molecule with hydrogen atoms, the shelf-life of this cannabinoid is extended substantially without altering the effect profile too much – like what margarine is to butter, in a sort of fashion. You can see the minor differences in the chemical structure below:
What Are The Effects of HHC?
HHC has very similar effects as Delta-9 THC. It can produce euphoria and stimulation feelings, altered visual and auditory perception, changes in heart rate and body temperature, and altered headspace and cognition.
Many users report the effects of HHC are similar to Delta-8-THC in terms of being more heavily weighted towards relaxation than stimulation. HHC is more potent than Delta-8 THC but slightly less potent than Delta-9 THC.

In other words, if the end product contains less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, it is legal for sale in the United States. There are also state and local laws to take into consideration. As of October 4, 2021, 18 states have restricted the sale of Delta-8 THC, and four (4) more have pending legislation and are soon to follow. Due to this, Leafy8 Brand will only sell our HHC products in states that have not banned or restricted the sale and use of Delta-8 THC.

Will HHC Show Up On a Drug Test?
Some market HHC as not showing up on a conventional 12-panel drug test. This has a lot of people interested because the other THC alternatives, such as Delta-8 THC and Delta-10 THC, will contribute to a failure on urine or blood tests for THC. They break down into the same metabolites that Delta-9 THC does – hence the positive results.
Whether HHC can avoid drug tests or not is still up for debate. Do not consume HHC if you are subject to drug testing. There’s some indication this compound doesn’t metabolize into 11-hydroxy-THC, which is the primary metabolite THC drug tests can detect. However, this is only a theory and has not yet been tested to prove whether it’s true.

Testing for HHC
Starting in October 2021, the first two laboratories in the U.S. began accepting HHC samples for potency analysis. The testing facility we use for our HHC products, Gobi Hemp Labs, implements a Track and Trace system using QR codes. These are designed to link back to the original version of the COA. This process ensures that you are viewing an authentic and unaltered document. Always verify that it is an original HHC COA from Gobi Labs by scanning the QR code at the bottom of each page.
Leafy8 Brand also submits HHC products for analysis to INX Labs occasionally. They are an excellent lab for Delta 8 but do not yet have the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), which enables them to measure HHC concentrations. Unfortunately, their COAs will show everything but HHC levels. We choose to submit our HHC products to INX Labs to confirm there are no unwanted cannabinoids/breakdown compounds present. We also want to validate that our products contain less than 0.3% delta-9 THC by dry weight. This is important for consumer safety and compliance reasons.
